Fence and 3D planner animation - Mega-Holz

A product shown where it will actually stand sells more easily than a photo on a white background. 3D creative work lets you build a house, a garden and the whole setting from scratch, and then show the product in every material, colour and at any time of day - without a photo shoot and without building a display.

For the German shop Mega-Holz (mega-holz.de) the result is an animation that combines an ad, an explainer and instructions in one film. It promotes the 3D fence planner on the shop’s website, shows how the fence is built and presents every product variant, and today it works in the company’s marketing communication.

What 3D animation gives manufacturers and shops

  1. The product in its own spaceA fence, window, gate or pergola shown next to the house and in the garden. The customer sees at once how it works with the architecture.
  2. Every variant from one modelMaterials, colours and textures change in the same scene. The whole range without photographing every version.
  3. Day, night and lightThe same scene in sunshine and after dark. Lighting and product illumination shown exactly as the brand wants.
  4. Installation without paper manualsAccessories, post types and installation steps are shown in motion. Fewer questions to customer service.
  5. More people in the configuratorThe film shows what can be set in the online tool before the customer opens it - and encourages them to try it at home.
  6. Ready for any marketCaptions and boards in the viewer’s language, and one film that works in ads, in the shop and on social media.

An ad, an explainer and instructions in one film

These three forms are usually ordered separately. An ad has to grab attention, an explainer has to make the product clear, and an instructional film has to show installation. A 3D animation can join them into one coherent story, because every scene is built from the same models in the same setting.

For a seller it is one asset for many jobs: short shots go into campaigns, the full version onto the product page, and the installation scenes into customer service. More on each form: 3D animated advertising and explainer and instructional video.

  1. AdvertisingA modern house, a garden and evening light create emotion and stop viewers in ads and on social media.
  2. ExplainerThe online planner and what it can do, explained with images instead of a tool manual.
  3. InstructionsPosts, accessories, wall mounting and the gate - the steps of building a fence in a clear order.

Do you have a configurator or a product with many variants?

An animation shows customers every option before they open the shop. The calculator gives an estimated cost - the result takes two minutes.

An online configurator gains when people can see the result

A design tool on a shop website is a big advantage, but only when customers use it. The 3D animation shows the path from a map of their own plot to a finished fence next to the house. The viewer sees the result before investing their time, and it is easier for them to start.

Any configurator can be promoted the same way: windows, doors, kitchens, furniture or pergolas. The film turns a list of options into an image that invites the click.

Every material and colour in the same scene

In 3D creative work, changing a variant is a matter of settings, not a new photo shoot. The same fence can appear with larch, aluminium, WPC or thermowood infill, in different colours and textures. Customers compare versions in an identical setting and choose more easily.

For the manufacturer it means the whole range shown from one model and ready for future campaigns. In the same way the project for Magnat shows furniture in any colour and material, and the project for Knauf Therm shows building materials where they work.

The same garden by day and after dark

Lighting is one of those product features a catalog photo cannot show. In the animation the same scene changes the time of day, and the LED lighting compatible with Smart Home switches on exactly when it should make an impression. An evening shot by the pool sells not the product itself but the lifestyle the customer wants at home.

Where else this kind of creative work fits

The same approach works wherever a product is judged in its surroundings: windows, doors and gates, facades and roofing, paving, pergolas, garden lighting and furniture. In 3D you can build a house, an interior or a garden that suits the target group and show the whole collection in it - including products that are not yet in stock.

Mega-Holz found Modelight online, and the whole animation has German captions. 3D creative work can be ordered remotely and prepared right away in the language of the market where it will work. A scene built from scratch around specific products is also shown in the project for Anders.

Frequently asked questions

Questions online shops and manufacturers ask most often when planning an animation of a configurator or a product shown in its surroundings.

How do you show an online configurator or planner in a film?

It is best to start with the screen and then move into the world the customer is planning. In the Mega-Holz animation, the laptop with the planner turns into a three-dimensional garden where the fence is built step by step.

The viewer does not need to read a manual to understand what the tool is for. They see the result and want to try it on their own plot.

Can one film be an ad, an explainer and instructions at the same time?

Yes, if it has clear parts with different jobs. Atmospheric shots of the house and the evening garden work like a spot, the planner scenes explain the product like an explainer, and the accessory and installation shots act as instructions.

The same material can be used in advertising, on the product page and in customer service, and shorter cuts can be made for specific campaigns.

How do you show many product variants without a photo shoot?

In 3D a variant is a change of material, colour or element in the same scene. The Mega-Holz fence changes its infills in the film - larch, aluminium, WPC and thermowood - without building and photographing every version.

This pays off especially with a wide range, where photographing every variant would be expensive and slow.

Can an animation be ordered for a foreign market?

Yes. The Mega-Holz animation was made for a client in Germany who found Modelight online, and it has German captions. Captions and boards are prepared in the language of the target market, and the whole collaboration can run remotely.

The finished film goes straight into the client’s local marketing channels.

How much does an animation of a product in a setting such as a house and garden cost?

The cost depends on the film length, the number of scenes and variants, and how much of the surroundings has to be built - a house, a garden and a night scene are additional models and lighting.

The pricing calculator shows an estimated cost in two minutes. An exact quote follows after a conversation about the product and the channels where the film will work.
